SKY MISSION

“SKY MISSION” represents a new departure for houses based on collaboration between Principal Home, which supplies houses with a commitment to the local community, and the architect Shin Takamatsu, who pursues the essence of living.
The sky is always there when you look up. People live under the sky.

We have deepened house building based on the sky theme together with proposals of new lifestyles.

Having the five conjunctions of “AROUND,” “BY,” “INTO”, “WITH”, and “ALONG” as keywords, we propose spaces that enrich our everyday lives with a focus on life with the sky.

The building’s outer shell, tracing the shape of the site, is decorated in sky blue, which evokes the sky, and ivory black, which evokes shadows. Although simple in shape, the building exhibits individuality at the front. The fixed windows and the entrance door at the center of the building are planned as devices for welcoming people in.

The functional yet unique form of the building enhances the creativity of its inhabitants and foreshadows momentary glimpses of excitement amidst peaceful surroundings.

ALONG THE SKY. A house that incorporates the spacious wide sky and surrounds you with light.

The design creates a space for living with the sky.
At the center of the house is a courtyard (sky garden). With rooms arranged around this, the inhabitants can sense the changing seasons through the sky.

The colorful light that dances in from the sky will enrich the daily life of family members who live there.

How much distance can you guarantee while living together?
In this residence, which we call a distance house, we have built a system for living amid a pandemic.

Living in quarantine, working from home, having time to confront oneself…
This house enhances the value of these and other activities that have been brought about by the pandemic.

Each room is divided into left and right sections by unique flow lines. With the left and right wings at 40-degree angles, so that the spaces are not directly facing each other, lines of sight are drawn diagonally inwards. Not only does this secure privacy within the family, but it also creates a sense of spaciousness that is larger than the actual area.
